Recipe Information
Prep Time: 10 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Servings: About 24–30 cups
Difficulty: Easy
Method: No-Cook
Ingredients
Grinch Punch
- 2 quarts lime-flavored sherbet
- 64 oz (1.9 L) Hawaiian Punch Green Berry Rush
- 32 oz (946 ml) pineapple juice
- 1 liter lemon-lime soft drink, chilled
For the Red Sugar Rim
- 3.8 oz (about 108 g) red sugar crystals
Instructions
1. Chill the Ingredients
For the best punch, refrigerate the Hawaiian Punch, pineapple juice, and lemon-lime soda until thoroughly chilled.
Keep the lime sherbet frozen until you’re ready to assemble the punch.
2. Prepare the Glasses
Pour the red sugar crystals onto a small plate.
Lightly moisten the rim of each serving glass with water, pineapple juice, or a little lemon-lime soda.
Turn each glass upside down and dip the rim into the red sugar crystals, rotating gently until the rim is evenly coated.
Set the glasses aside.
3. Combine the Juices
Place a large punch bowl or drink dispenser on a stable surface.
Pour in the 64 ounces of Hawaiian Punch Green Berry Rush.
Add the 32 ounces of pineapple juice and stir gently to combine.
4. Add the Lemon-Lime Soda
Slowly pour in the chilled 1-liter bottle of lemon-lime soft drink.
Stir very gently once or twice to combine while preserving as much carbonation as possible.
5. Add the Lime Sherbet
Scoop the lime sherbet into the punch bowl.
You can add large scoops across the surface or place the entire sherbet scoops in the center.
The sherbet will float initially and gradually melt into the punch, creating a frothy, creamy layer.
6. Serve
Ladle the punch into the prepared red-sugar-rimmed glasses.
Serve immediately while the punch is cold, bubbly, and frothy.
For an extra festive presentation, garnish each glass with a maraschino cherry or a small green-and-red Christmas candy.
🎄 Chef’s Tips
Keep everything cold. Chilled ingredients help the sherbet stay frozen longer and keep the punch refreshing.
Add the soda last. This preserves the carbonation and keeps your punch nice and fizzy.
Don’t over-stir. Gentle stirring is enough. Too much agitation will cause the soda to lose its bubbles.
Add sherbet just before serving. It creates the prettiest frothy appearance when it first begins melting.
Prepare the sugar rims ahead. Rim the glasses before guests arrive so serving is quick and easy.
Make-Ahead Instructions
The punch base can be prepared several hours ahead by combining the Hawaiian Punch and pineapple juice and refrigerating them.
Keep the lemon-lime soda refrigerated separately.
Just before serving, add the soda and lime sherbet.
Prepare the sugar-rimmed glasses shortly before the party.
🎅 Festive Variations
Grinch Punch With Extra Bubbles
Add a little extra lemon-lime soda for a lighter, fizzier punch.
Creamy Grinch Punch
Allow more sherbet to melt into the punch for a creamier, frothier drink.
Grinch Float
Pour the punch into individual glasses and add a small scoop of lime sherbet directly to each glass.
Grinch Party Garnish
Add a red maraschino cherry to each glass to represent the Grinch’s heart.
Frozen Grinch Punch
Freeze some of the Hawaiian Punch into ice cubes and use them instead of regular ice so the punch doesn’t become watered down.
