⏱ Recipe Information
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 5 minutes
Servings: 1 drink
Difficulty: Easy
Method: No-Cook
Ingredients
- ½ cup seedless grapes, washed
- ½ cup watermelon, cut into small cubes or blended
- 1 bottle Yakult drink
- 1–2 tablespoons fruit syrup, to taste
- Ice cubes, as needed
- Extra watermelon or grapes, for garnish, optional
Instructions
1. Prepare the Grapes
Wash the grapes thoroughly and remove them from the stems.
Place the grapes in the bottom of a serving glass.
Using a muddler, the back of a spoon, or another suitable tool, gently crush the grapes.
Don’t completely puree them. Lightly crushing the grapes releases their juice while leaving some pieces of fruit for texture.
2. Add the Watermelon
Add the watermelon to the glass.
For a more textured drink, use small watermelon cubes.
For a smoother refresher, blend the watermelon separately until juicy and smooth before adding it to the glass.
3. Add the Ice
Fill the glass generously with ice cubes.
The ice helps keep the drink cold while also creating a beautiful layered appearance.
4. Add the Syrup
Pour the fruit syrup over the crushed grapes and watermelon.
Start with a small amount and add more if you prefer a sweeter drink.
5. Pour in the Yakult
Slowly pour the Yakult drink over the ice.
Pouring slowly helps preserve the layers and gives the drink an attractive, refreshing appearance.
6. Garnish and Serve
Garnish with a few fresh grapes or a small watermelon wedge.
Serve immediately with a straw or long spoon so the fruit can be mixed into the drink as you enjoy it.
Chef’s Tips
Crush, Don’t Pulverize
Lightly crushing the grapes gives the drink fresh grape juice and small pieces of fruit without turning the entire drink into a thick purée.
Chill the Ingredients
For the coldest, most refreshing drink, refrigerate the grapes, watermelon, syrup, and Yakult before assembling.
Adjust the Sweetness
The amount of syrup can be adjusted depending on the sweetness of your watermelon and grapes.
Make It Extra Refreshing
Add a few fresh mint leaves or a squeeze of lime juice for a brighter flavor.
Variations
Sparkling Watermelon Grape Refresher
Add a splash of chilled sparkling water for a fizzy finish.
Citrus Version
Add 1–2 teaspoons of fresh lime juice to balance the sweetness with a bright citrus note.
Minty Watermelon Refresher
Gently muddle a few fresh mint leaves together with the grapes before adding the ice.
Extra Fruity
Add diced strawberries, kiwi, or blueberries for a colorful mixed-fruit version.
Serving Suggestions
Serve immediately in a tall clear glass filled with plenty of ice.
For a café-style presentation, layer the crushed fruit at the bottom, add ice, pour in the syrup and Yakult slowly, and finish with a small watermelon wedge and fresh grapes.
