- Total Time: 4 hours 10 minutes

- Difficulty: Easy
- Method: No-Bake
Ingredients
For the Pie
- 1 6-ounce, 9-inch pre-made graham cracker crust
- 1 5.9-ounce box instant chocolate pudding mix
- 1¾ cups cold whole milk
- 1 8-ounce container Cool Whip, thawed
- 1 standard Hershey’s chocolate bar, for shaving or grating
Optional Garnishes
- Extra Cool Whip
- Chocolate curls
- Chocolate shavings
- Mini chocolate chips
- A light dusting of cocoa powder
Instructions
1. Make the Chocolate Pudding
Pour the cold whole milk into a large mixing bowl.
Add the 5.9-ounce box of instant chocolate pudding mix.
Using a whisk, beat vigorously for about 2 minutes, or until the mixture is completely smooth and noticeably thickened.
Let it stand for another minute or two so the pudding reaches its full thickness.
2. Fold in the Whipped Topping
Add about two-thirds of the Cool Whip to the thickened chocolate pudding.
Using a rubber spatula, gently fold the whipped topping into the pudding until the mixture is smooth, fluffy, and evenly combined.
Avoid vigorous stirring, which can knock too much air out of the filling.
3. Fill the Crust
Spoon the chocolate pudding mixture into the graham cracker crust.
Spread the top into an even layer using an offset spatula or the back of a spoon.
For an especially neat finish, gently smooth the surface without pressing down too firmly.
4. Chill the Pie
Cover the pie loosely with plastic wrap or the lid from the crust container.
Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
The chilling time allows the filling to become firm enough to slice cleanly.
5. Decorate
Just before serving, spread or pipe the remaining Cool Whip over the top.
Use a vegetable peeler or fine grater to make chocolate curls or shavings from the Hershey’s bar.
Scatter the chocolate over the whipped topping.
For an extra chocolatey appearance, add a few larger chocolate curls in the center.
6. Slice and Serve
For the cleanest slices, dip a sharp knife into hot water, wipe it dry, and then slice the chilled pie.
Repeat between cuts.
Serve cold with additional whipped topping or chocolate shavings if desired.
Chef’s Tips
- Use very cold milk. Instant pudding thickens best when the milk is properly chilled.
- Don’t overmix the Cool Whip. Folding gently keeps the filling light and mousse-like.
- Give it enough chilling time. Four hours is the minimum; overnight produces an even firmer, cleaner slice.
- For easier slicing, freeze the pie for about 20–30 minutes immediately before serving—but don’t freeze it solid.
- For beautiful chocolate curls, let the Hershey’s bar sit at room temperature for a few minutes before shaving it with a vegetable peeler.
Easy Variations
Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie

Triple Chocolate Pie
