  • ¼ cup (60 ml) Fireball Cinnamon Whisky
  • 5 oz (142 g) white chocolate melting wafers or white candy melts
  • ¼ cup (about 50 g) colored sanding sugar

Optional Decorations

  • Red sanding sugar
  • Gold or silver sanding sugar
  • Cinnamon sugar
  • White chocolate drizzle
  • Red candy melts
  • Festive sprinkles

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Drain the Cherries

Drain the maraschino cherries thoroughly.

Reserve the stems if your cherries have them—they make the finished treats much easier to pick up and create a classic cherry-bomb presentation.

Pat the cherries gently with paper towels to remove excess syrup.

The drier the cherries are, the better the chocolate will adhere.

2. Soak the Cherries

Place the drained cherries in a small glass jar or bowl.

Pour the ¼ cup Fireball Cinnamon Whisky over the cherries.

Make sure the cherries are well coated.

Cover and refrigerate for 2–4 hours.

For a stronger cinnamon-whiskey flavor, they can be soaked closer to 4 hours.

3. Drain and Dry

Remove the cherries from the whiskey.

Place them on a paper towel-lined plate and gently pat them dry.

Allow them to sit for a few minutes so the surface becomes as dry as possible.

Don’t skip this step: excess liquid can cause the melted chocolate to slide off or become streaky.

4. Melt the White Chocolate

Place the white chocolate melting wafers in a microwave-safe bowl.

Microwave in 20–30 second intervals, stirring thoroughly after each interval.

Continue until the chocolate is completely smooth.

Be careful not to overheat white chocolate, as it can seize or become thick.

5. Dip the Cherries

Hold each cherry by the stem.

Dip it into the melted white chocolate, coating most of the cherry while leaving the stem exposed.

Allow the excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.

6. Add the Sanding Sugar

Immediately dip or sprinkle the chocolate-covered portion with the colored sanding sugar.

Work quickly while the chocolate is still melted so the sugar sticks securely.

Place each finished cherry on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

7. Chill

Place the tray in the refrigerator for 20–30 minutes, or until the chocolate has completely set.

Once firm, transfer the Cherry Bombs to a serving platter or airtight container.

8. Serve

Serve chilled or allow the Cherry Bombs to sit at room temperature for about 10 minutes before serving.

Arrange them on a festive platter and add extra sanding sugar or sprinkles around the edges for decoration.

⭐ Chef’s Tips

Use cherries with stems: The stems make dipping much easier and create a beautiful finished presentation.

Dry the cherries thoroughly: This is the most important step for getting a smooth chocolate coating.

Don’t overheat white chocolate: Gentle, short microwave intervals prevent scorching and seizing.

Work quickly: Add the sanding sugar immediately after dipping while the chocolate is still wet.

For stronger flavor: Let the cherries soak for the full 4 hours.

Keep them chilled: Refrigeration helps the chocolate stay firm and keeps the soaked cherries cold and refreshing.

🍒 Easy Variations

Red Velvet Cherry Bombs

Use red sanding sugar over the white chocolate for a dramatic red-and-white finish.

Cinnamon Sugar Cherry Bombs

Mix sanding sugar with a small pinch of ground cinnamon before coating the cherries.

Chocolate Cherry Bombs

Replace the white chocolate with semisweet or dark chocolate melting wafers.

Double Chocolate

Dip the cherries in white chocolate, let them set, then drizzle with melted dark chocolate.

Holiday Cherry Bombs

Use red, green, and gold sanding sugar for a festive holiday platter.

Extra-Spicy Cinnamon

Add a tiny pinch of cayenne pepper to the sanding sugar for a sweet-and-spicy finish.

  • Christmas gatherings
  • New Year’s Eve celebrations

  • Cocktail parties

Serve them alongside other bite-sized desserts for a colorful dessert platter.

🧊 Storage

Store the finished Fireball Cherry Bombs in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

They are best enjoyed within 2–3 days.

Keep refrigerated until serving.

Because the cherries contain alcohol and moisture, the chocolate coating may gradually become softer during storage.

❄️ Freezing

Freezing isn’t recommended for the best texture.

The cherries can release moisture as they thaw, which may cause the chocolate coating to become damp or crack.

🍒🔥 Final Result

These Fireball Cherry Bombs are sweet, juicy, creamy, and packed with a warm cinnamon-whiskey flavor.

Each bite combines a boozy maraschino cherry, smooth white chocolate shell, and colorful crunchy sanding sugar for a fun adult-only treat that’s as festive as it is delicious.
