⏱ Recipe Information

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 1½–2 hours
Set Time: 1–2 hours
Total Time: About 3½ hours
Yield: 40–50 clusters
Difficulty: Easy

🛒 Ingredients

  • 10 oz (283 g) chocolate melting wafers
  • 12 oz (340 g) white chocolate chips
  • 12 oz (340 g) milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup (about 250 g) creamy peanut butter
  • 16 oz (454 g) dry-roasted peanuts

Optional Toppings

  • Flaky sea salt
  • Holiday sprinkles
  • Mini chocolate chips
  • Chopped peanuts
  • Crushed pretzels

Instructions

🥜 1. Prepare the Crockpot

Use a 4–6 quart slow cooker.

Make sure the inside of the crockpot is completely clean and dry.

Add the dry-roasted peanuts to the bottom.

Spread them into an even layer.

🍫 2. Layer the Chocolate

Add the chocolate ingredients over the peanuts in this order:

  1. Chocolate melting wafers
  2. Milk chocolate chips
  3. White chocolate chips
  4. Creamy peanut butter

Don’t stir yet.

Keeping the ingredients layered helps prevent the chocolate from sticking or scorching while everything melts slowly.

🔥 3. Melt Slowly

Cover the crockpot with the lid.

Cook on LOW for approximately 1½–2 hours.

Check after about 1 hour.

The chocolate should gradually become soft and glossy.

Avoid cooking on HIGH because chocolate can scorch easily.

🥄 4. Stir Everything Together

Once the chocolate is mostly melted, remove the lid.

Gently stir everything together with a silicone spatula or wooden spoon.

Continue stirring until:

  • The chocolate is completely smooth
  • The peanut butter is fully incorporated
  • The peanuts are evenly coated

If a few chocolate pieces remain, keep stirring from the residual heat rather than turning the crockpot to HIGH.

🍫 5. Scoop the Candy

Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats.

Using a tablespoon or small cookie scoop, drop spoonfuls of the chocolate-peanut mixture onto the prepared sheets.

Make each cluster approximately 1½–2 tablespoons.

Leave a little space between each piece.

✨ 6. Add Toppings

While the candy is still soft, sprinkle with any desired toppings.

For a simple finish, use:

  • Flaky sea salt
  • Extra chopped peanuts

For holidays, colorful sprinkles make these especially festive.

❄️ 7. Let the Candy Set

Allow the candy to sit at room temperature for approximately 1–2 hours, or until completely firm.

For faster setting, place the trays in the refrigerator for 30–45 minutes.

🍫 8. Serve

Once firm, carefully peel the candy clusters from the parchment.

Arrange on a serving platter or transfer to an airtight container.

They’re ready to enjoy immediately!

⭐ Chef’s Tips

Keep the Crockpot on LOW

High heat can cause the chocolate to seize, burn, or become grainy.

Don’t Add Water

Even a small amount of water can cause melted chocolate to seize.

Don’t Overcook

Once everything is melted and smooth, turn off the crockpot. There’s no benefit to keeping the chocolate hot.

Use Creamy Peanut Butter

Traditional creamy peanut butter gives the smoothest texture and richest flavor.

Make Smaller Clusters

For party trays or cookie exchanges, use a teaspoon-sized scoop for bite-sized candies.

🍪 Delicious Variations

🥨 Sweet & Salty

Add crushed pretzels to the peanut mixture and finish with flaky sea salt.

🍓 Peanut Butter & Chocolate

Stir in ½ cup mini chocolate candies after melting.

🌰 Mixed Nut Crockpot Candy

Replace half the peanuts with roasted almonds, cashews, or pecans.

🎄 Holiday Crockpot Candy

Use red and green M&M’s or festive sprinkles on top.

🥥 Coconut Peanut Clusters

Add ½ cup toasted shredded coconut to the mixture.

☕ Mocha Candy

Add 1 teaspoon instant espresso powder to the melted chocolate.

🧊 Storage

Store completely set candy in an airtight container.

Room temperature: About 1–2 weeks in a cool, dry place.
Refrigerator: Up to 3 weeks.

Separate layers with parchment paper to prevent the clusters from sticking together.

❄️ Freezing

Place completely cooled candy in a freezer-safe airtight container.

Separate layers with parchment paper.

Freeze: Up to 3 months.

Thaw at room temperature while still covered to minimize condensation.

🍫🥜 Recipe Summary
