Difficulty: Easy
Method: Stovetop Stir-Fry

Ingredients

Teriyaki Sauce

  • 12.25 oz teriyaki sauce
  • ½ tablespoon cornstarch

Beef & Noodles

  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 6 oz instant ramen noodles
  • 1 lb patio steak, thinly sliced
  • 2½ cups broccoli florets
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon thinly sliced green onion

Instructions

1. Prepare the Beef

Pat the steak dry with paper towels.

Slice the beef thinly against the grain into bite-sized strips. Cutting against the grain shortens the muscle fibers and helps keep the beef tender.

Set the sliced beef aside while you prepare the sauce and noodles.

2. Prepare the Teriyaki Sauce

Pour the teriyaki sauce into a small bowl.

Add the cornstarch and whisk thoroughly until the cornstarch is completely dissolved.

Set aside.

Tip: Make sure the cornstarch is mixed into the sauce while the sauce is still cold. This prevents lumps from forming when it hits the hot pan.

3. Prepare the Ramen Noodles

Cook the instant ramen noodles according to the package directions, but cook them slightly less than the recommended time.

The noodles should be tender but still have some bite because they will finish cooking in the stir-fry.

Drain thoroughly and set aside.

If necessary, rinse briefly with cool water to stop the cooking process and prevent excessive sticking.

4. Heat the Pan

Place a large skillet, wok, or sauté pan over medium-high to high heat.

Add 1½ tablespoons of the vegetable oil and allow it to become hot.

The pan should be hot enough that the beef begins to sizzle immediately when added.

5. Sear the Beef

Add the sliced beef to the hot pan in a single layer.

Avoid overcrowding the pan. If necessary, cook the beef in batches.

Sear for approximately 2–3 minutes per side, or until the beef is browned and cooked to your preferred level of doneness.

Transfer the cooked beef to a plate and set aside.

6. Cook the Broccoli

Add the remaining 1½ tablespoons vegetable oil to the pan.

Add the broccoli florets.

Stir-fry for approximately 2 minutes.

Add 2 tablespoons water and immediately cover the pan.

Allow the broccoli to steam for approximately 2–3 minutes, or until it becomes bright green and tender-crisp.

Remove the lid and allow any remaining water to evaporate.

7. Add the Noodles

Add the cooked ramen noodles to the pan with the broccoli.

Toss gently with tongs or a spatula to combine.

Separate any noodles that have stuck together while stirring.

8. Add the Beef

Return the cooked beef to the pan.

Toss everything together so the beef, broccoli, and noodles are evenly distributed.

9. Add the Teriyaki Sauce

Give the teriyaki and cornstarch mixture another quick stir, then pour it into the hot pan.

Toss continuously for approximately 1–2 minutes.

As the sauce heats, the cornstarch will thicken it, creating a glossy coating that clings beautifully to the noodles, beef, and broccoli.

10. Finish the Stir-Fry

Continue tossing until everything is evenly coated and heated through.

The finished stir-fry should have a rich, glossy sauce without being overly watery.

Remove from the heat immediately once the sauce reaches the desired consistency.

11. Garnish and Serve

Transfer the beef ramen stir-fry to serving bowls or plates.

Sprinkle with the thinly sliced green onion.

Serve immediately while hot.

Chef’s Tips

Slice the Beef Against the Grain

This is one of the easiest ways to make steak more tender. Look for the visible lines running through the meat and slice across them rather than parallel to them.

Don’t Overcrowd the Pan

Too much beef at once causes the meat to steam rather than sear. Work in batches if your pan is small.

Don’t Overcook the Ramen

The noodles will continue cooking when added to the hot stir-fry. Slightly undercooking them initially helps prevent mushy noodles.

Use High Heat

Stir-frying works best over high heat. Have all your ingredients prepared before you begin cooking because everything comes together quickly.

Add the Sauce Last

Adding the teriyaki sauce toward the end prevents it from reducing too much and allows it to coat the noodles and beef evenly.

Optional Add-Ins

Make this stir-fry your own by adding:

  • Sliced bell peppers
  • Carrots
  • Snow peas
  • Mushrooms
  • Baby corn
  • Shredded cabbage
  • Bean sprouts
  • Sliced onions

For extra heat, add crushed red pepper flakes, chili oil, or sliced fresh chili.

Serving Suggestions

Serve the Beef Ramen Stir-Fry on its own for a complete meal, or pair it with:

  • Steamed edamame
  • Asian cucumber salad
  • Spring rolls
  • Gyoza
  • Steamed vegetables
  • Extra broccoli

For a finishing touch, sprinkle with sesame seeds or additional green onions.

Storage

Transfer leftovers to an airtight container once cooled.

Refrigerator: Up to 3–4 days.

The noodles will absorb some of the sauce as they sit, so the texture may become slightly softer.

Reheating

Reheat in a skillet over medium heat with a small splash of water.

Toss occasionally until heated through.

You can also microwave individual portions in short intervals, stirring between each interval.

Recipe Summary

This Beef Ramen Stir-Fry transforms everyday instant ramen into a flavorful, satisfying dinner. Tender seared beef, crisp-tender broccoli, and chewy noodles are tossed in a thick, glossy teriyaki sauce and finished with fresh green onions.

Fast, flavorful, and perfect for an easy weeknight meal.
